Four dolphins teams competed on Sunday, along with ring party, admin and clearing away. Many members came to lend a hand even though they were not running any dogs at the competition and thanks goes out to them for spending part of their Sunday in a chilly sports hall.

The Dolphins teams competed well over the course of the day with Dippy in Division 1 coming in fourth, Dodgy (Div 3) managing 1st and beating all teams in their division, Leaping (Div 4) coming in third and Dolphin Friendly Tuna coming 2nd in Division 5. Many of the dogs had not run toghether before and there were some dogs returning for their first competition after the winter - all doing the club and their owners proud.

On a cold and snowy weekend in February the Dolphins teams discovered that one of their team members was snowed in, and there was no way that they were going to be able to make it, after a quick re-shuffle of one teams running order we were all good to go.

Both teams were plagued with mistakes which cost legs and therefore the race, with Dippy coming in 5th in a very quick Division 1 and Leaping managing 4th.

A small team of Dolphins braved the cold to travel to Angelsey to compete in the first competition of the year. Dippy Dolphins running in a very long 7 team division put in some great racing over the day and came 3rd in Division 1 with a fastest time of 18.88. A great start considering we (that includes the dogs as well as the handlers) are all a little out of practice (especially me it seems with my crosses!).

Leaping Dolphins came 5th in Division 3 with a time of 21.03, again some good running but the team were plagued with inconsistent running at times, but again a good start as everyone is a little rusty after the Christmas and New Year, plus snow related breaks.

Dolphins' Annual Royden Walk 2nd January 2010
On a weekend that looked like the weather might just hold a large number of Dolphins team members and their dogs braved the outdoors and travelled up to Royden Park on the Wirral. After a nice beginning to the walk the weather suddenly turned nasty and we got caught in the middle of the Park with nowhere to go in a hail storm (hails the size of golf balls - honest!), on stepping up the pace we realised that one dog had vanished in the confusion about getting out of the weather and into some shelter. A couple of people went off in search while we hot footed it back to the cars - thankfully everyone returned in one piece after a nerve racking half hour or searching.

After trying to dry everyone out as best as possible we headed for the pub - and the use of the hand driers and radiators to warm everyone up (especially those that had not brought spare clothes - mental note, next year take spares of everything!).
